The swordfishing schooner Helen E. Murley foundered in the hurricane of August 26, 1924. She was last seen anchored near Nantucket Lightship. A yellow dory belonging to the boat was found in early September.
The Helen E. Murley was known for rescuing four survivors from the fleet of fishing schooners sunk by a German submarine on Georges Bank during World War I.
